Custom Fund Closing Awards & Commemoratives
Closing a fund can represent years of work: developing an investment strategy, building investor relationships, raising capital and earning confidence in what comes next.
The piece that commemorates it should feel connected to that achievement.
Polaris designs custom fund closing awards, deal toys and financial tombstones for private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and other investment firms.
From refined crystal markers to fully dimensional custom pieces, we help determine the right idea, materials and level of complexity for the fund being commemorated.
Different Funds, Different Approaches
Not every fund closing calls for the same kind of commemorative. The appropriate approach depends on the fund, recipients, budget, quantity, timing and the idea behind the design.
We think about fund closing pieces across three broad levels of complexity.
Classic
Refined Lucite or crystal forms built around strong typography, fund branding, closing information and carefully considered proportions.
Classic does not mean generic. A simple piece can be highly effective when the graphics, material and form are handled well.
Generally the most efficient approach for timing and budget.
Distinctive
Custom shapes, layered construction, unusual finishes, mixed materials or dimensional elements that make the piece more specific to the fund or firm.
This level offers considerably more design freedom without requiring a fully sculptural build.
Moderate complexity, timing and cost.
Sculptural
Fully dimensional models, cast forms, architectural pieces, products, equipment or other objects developed specifically around the firm, fund or investment strategy.
These projects offer the greatest creative freedom and may require custom modeling, molds, multiple components and specialized finishing.
Typically requires more development time and a higher budget.
The Fund Itself Can Inspire the Design
There’s rarely only one way to represent a fund. Design ideas may come from:
the firm's logo or visual identity
the fund number or name
the investment strategy
industries or assets the fund invests in
geography
architecture or real estate
an object associated with the firm's story
the size or significance of the raise
a hard-cap, inaugural fund or other defining milestone
Sometimes one of these elements leads directly to the design.
Sometimes the strongest solution is simply an elegant form that lets the fund identity and closing information carry the piece.
Our job is to determine which approach has the most meaning and then make it practical to produce.
Who Receives Fund Closing Commemoratives?
The audience varies by firm and fund.
Pieces may be created for the investment and fundraising team, senior leadership, investor relations professionals, founding or anchor investors, limited partners, placement agents, advisers or other people who played an important role in the raise.
Some firms create one version for everyone. Others develop a core design with personalized text or variations for different recipient groups.
We can structure the project around the number of pieces, recipients and level of personalization required.
Why Polaris
Fund closing projects combine design, finance, custom manufacturing and often a fixed event or presentation date.
Polaris brings those parts together in one process.
Direct access to experienced designers throughout the project
Initial concepts typically developed within 24–48 hours
Designs developed with real manufacturing methods and constraints in mind
Guidance on materials, complexity, budget and timing
A prototype or production sample for every factory production job
Project management from concept through production and shipping
The objective is not simply to manufacture a commemorative. It is to help determine what the fund closing should become and then execute that idea well.
Materials Follow the Idea
Fund closing pieces can be produced in Lucite, crystal, resin, metal, wood or combinations of materials.
Each creates different possibilities. Crystal offers clarity, weight, facets and subsurface etching. Lucite allows custom shapes, layered graphics and embedded objects.
Resin is well suited to fully dimensional forms and models. Metal and wood can add weight, warmth, texture or contrast. We recommend materials based on the design rather than forcing the design into a predetermined material.

From Fund Close to Finished Piece
You don't need to come to us with a finished design.
Send us the fund name or milestone, logos or other brand materials, approximate quantity, target date and anything you think might help us understand the fund or firm.
Initial concepts are typically developed within 24–48 hours.
Once the artwork is approved, many projects require approximately 3–4 weeks for prototyping and production. More complex sculptural designs, custom models, cast metal pieces and other highly engineered projects may require additional time.
Shipping and delivery time are additional and depend on the production location, destination and shipping method.
Every factory production job receives a prototype or production sample before the full order is produced. Depending on the project, client review may be in hand, through photographs or video, or may not require a separate client review. The prototype is still part of our internal quality-control process in every case.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of fund closings do you commemorate?
We work with private equity, venture capital, growth equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure and other investment firms. Projects can commemorate inaugural funds, first or final closes, oversubscribed raises, hard-cap closings, successor funds and other significant capital-raising milestones.
Do we need to know what we want before contacting you?
No. Most clients come to us with the milestone, branding, quantity and target date rather than a finished design. We develop concepts based on the fund, firm, investment strategy and other elements that may provide a meaningful visual direction.
Can the design reflect our investment strategy?
Yes. The investment thesis can often provide the strongest source of design ideas. Depending on the fund, that might mean incorporating references to real estate, infrastructure, healthcare, technology, energy, consumer products or another sector. In other cases, the firm's identity or a more restrained treatment is the better solution.
Can pieces be personalized for different recipients?
Yes. Depending on the design and production method, we can personalize names, titles, recipient groups or other information while maintaining a consistent overall design.
How long does a fund closing deal toy take?
Initial concepts are typically developed within 24–48 hours. Once artwork is approved, many projects require approximately 3–4 weeks for prototyping and production. More complex projects may require additional time, and shipping time is additional.
Is a prototype made before production?
Yes. Every factory production job receives a prototype or production sample before full production. Polaris reviews the sample as part of our internal quality-control process. Depending on the project, the client may review the physical sample, photographs or video, or may not require a separate client review.
What do you need to get started?
The most useful information is the fund or milestone being commemorated, approximate quantity, target date, budget range and whatever branding or background material you can share. Logos, closing announcements, presentations and even a brief description of the fund can all help us develop the first concepts.
